Drewsteignton

Historic Dartmoor Village

Drewsteignton sits high above the River Teign as it meanders through a spectacular steep wooded Gorge. It is a beautiful historic  village with a cluster of ancient cob and thatched cottages surrounding a square, complete with shop, ancient church, restaurant and very pretty pub. There is an excellent friendly post office/shop and 'the local' Drewe Arms Pub with excellent beers and great pub food. There is also the option of experiencing The Old Inn Restaurant which offers fine dining at its best but in a relaxed country atmosphere. Rookwood Cottage is ideally situated a stone's throw away from the village square. There are spectacular walks from the village into the woodlands and Teign Valley. You can hike to Castle Drogo or to Fingle Bridge which was voted one of the best walks in the UK.  Drewsteignton is 10 minuets from Chagford Village which is also a lovely place to visit with a range of restaurants, pubs and shops to enjoy. This is a great base to explore the Moors and you can also get to the Cornwall coast within 1.5 hours.  Staying in Drewsteignton is like stepping back in time and experiencing a peaceful friendly environment that only country living can provide.
